After winning two of three at St. Louis to open the 2011 season, the San Diego Padres return home to PETCO Park to face the San Francisco Giants





















La ciudad de Sincerín, que está ubicada en el departamento del Bolívar, Colombia estará pendiente de Ernesto Frieri, su hijo nativo que los está representando en las Grandes Ligas con el uniforme de los Padres de San Diego.

Frieri es el segundo relevista que llega a la Gran Carpa representando al béisbol colombiano. La pasada temporada logró una marca de 1 victoria, 1 derrota y una efectividad de 1.71 en 33 entradas lanzadas en la Liga Nacional. El lanzador derecho mide 1.88 y pesa 91kg. El costeño colombiano está considerado uno de los mejores relevistas de Latinoamérica en las Mayores.


La pasada temporada los Padres perdieron el campeonato de la División del Oeste en el último juego de la campaña. San Diego es un equipo favorito en la División de Oeste de la Nacional. ¡Hay que apoyar a los nuestros en las Grandes Liga!.


AMERICA’S FINEST CITY: After winning two of three at St. Louis to open the 2011 season, the San Diego Padres return home to PETCO Park to face the San Francisco Giants…both today’s home opener and tomorrow’s game begin at 3:35 p.m. PT…after an off day Thursday, the Padres will play 20 consecutive games without an off day…that stretch begins this weekend at home vs. the Dodgers and then includes a three-game set 4/11-13 vs. Cincinnati next week…San Diego’s next road trip features a four-game series at Houston and three games at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.


VS. THE GIANTS: The Padres won 12 of 18 games last season against the eventual World Series champions…San Diego won the first seven games over the Giants…SF captured six of the final 11…San Diego is 41-31 vs. San Francisco since the start of the 2007 season, including 22-14 at PETCO Park.


IT’S WHERE THE PADRES GO: San Diego has had a winning season in six of the previous seven seasons at PETCO Park, including 45-36 ledger last year…the 45 home wins ranked tied for 10th on the Padres all-time single-season list…last year also marked the third-best PETCO Park record behind the ‘07 club’s 47-34 and the ‘05 team’s 46-35…the only losing record at home has been the 35-36 mark in 2008.

HOME OPENERS: San Diego is 21-21 in home openers all-time, including 5-2 at PETCO Park since ‘04…last year, the Padres cracked 19 hits and routed the Braves 17-2 behind three hits each from Kyle Blanks, David Eckstein and Will Venable…both Blanks and Venable homered…San Diego hit the double-digit run mark for the just the second time in franchise history for a home opener (12-5, 1997 vs. NYM)…San Diego is 2-2 in home openers under Manager Bud Black and also 2-2 on Opening Day overall.

WELCOME TO THE 619: Entering today’s home opener, neither Jason Bartlett nor Cameron Maybin have ever played a in PETCO Park…they join rookie Cedric Hunter on the Padres’ roster who will play a Major League game in SD for the first time…Hunter did previously play in PETCO as a member of the Lake Elsinore Storm.
