SAN FRANCISCO, CA. - The World Champion San Francisco Giants open their 12th season at AT&T Park with a six-game homestand against the St. Louis Cardinals, April 8-10 and the Los Angeles Dodgers, April 11-13. On Opening Day, Friday, April 8, the first 40,000 fans will receive AT&T Opening Day Calendars. Ceremonies begin at 12:45 p.m. with the 2010 World Series Championship Flag being raised above AT&T Park for the first time in San Francisco Giants history. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the celebration.
The festivities continue as local Grammy Award winning recording artists Train will perform prior to Opening Day introductions. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. with gates opening at 10:35 a.m. On Saturday, April 9, the 2010 San Francisco Giants will be honored for their World Series Championship. A pre-game ceremony, scheduled for 6:15 p.m., will be held for members of the 2010 team, who will receive their World Series Rings. The first 20,000 fans will receive an AT&T Ring Keychain. Performing the National Anthem will be Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician, Sammy Hagar. First pitch has been changed to 7:05 p.m.
Gates to the ballpark will open at 5:05 p.m. Rookie of the Year Award winner Buster Posey will be honored in a pre-game ceremony on Sunday, April 10 to celebrate his 2010 rookie season. The first 20,000 fans will receive a Buster Posey Pin presented by Box.
Throwing out the ceremonial first pitch will be past Giants Rookie of the Year Award Winners Willie Mays (1951), Orlando Cepeda (1958), Willie McCovey (1959), Gary Matthews (1973), John Montefusco (1975) and Buster Posey (2010). Performing the National Anthem will be San Francisco’s favorite bandleader, Maestro Dick Bright.
The Giants wrap up their homestand with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, April 11-13. On Monday, April 11, the game will be dedicated to Bryan Stow, who was attacked and suffered critical injuries following the season opener in Los Angeles last week. The Giants will partner with Bryan’s employer, American Medical Response, to collect donations at the gates and throughout the ballpark for The Bryan Stow Fund. Approximately 100 of his fellow paramedics will volunteer for this effort.
The Giants will make an initial $10,000 contribution to The Bryan Stow Fund and encourage all fans to donate. The Giants Community Fund will also hold a silent auction during Monday’s game with all proceeds benefiting the The Bryan Stow Fund. In addition, on Monday, April 11, the first 20,000 fans will receive an AT&T Giants magnetic schedule. The National Anthem will be performed by entertainers from the popular show Cirque du Soleil.
