Energizer Night Race 'Elite en la Energizer Night Race 10k en Bogotá, Colombia


 Gerard Giraldo, de Porvenir, actual campeón Latinoamericano de Circuito Energizer 10k, medallista bolivariano y sudamericano lidera el listado elite de la  Energizer Night Race 10k, competencia pactada para este domingo 23 de marzo, la cual da apertura al calendario nacional de ruta de la federación y es la primera prueba preparatoria de la media maratón de Bogotá 2014.

El reciente palmarés del nuevo integrante de la escuadra Porvenir que buscará revalidar el título conseguido el año pasado en la Energizer 10k de Medellín, empieza con las medallas de plata en los 3 mil metros con obstáculos de los Bolivarianos de Perú y los Suramericanos de Chile, además recordista nacional de esta especialidad en las categorías sub – 23 y mayores, quien viene de ser segundo en los 10k de Cipolletti – Argentina.

El quíntuple campeón y recordista de la Carrera Ascenso Torre Colpatria, Juan Pablo Rangel, de Icec volverá a la competencia luego de un importante cierre de año 2013 con seis triunfos en línea, para lo cual escogió la prueba nocturna de este domingo 23 de marzo a las 7 p.m.

Oscar Moreno, de Bogotá, tres veces campeón de la Torre Colpatria en la categoría abierta y campeón de varias paradas del circuito de montaña 2013 también estará en la línea de partida junto al experimentado Edgar Sanchez, de Torres de Apicalá, que venció en Tocancipa, Chía y Valledupar, en su categoría.
Este es el primer listado de corredores elite que han confirmado su presencia en la Energizer Night Race 10k, en busca de un tiquete a la final latinoamericana que se realizará en Lima – Perú, de la cual Giraldo, de Porvenir es el vigente titular.

La Energizer Night Race 10k, primera carrera preparatoria de la media maratón de Bogotá 2014 tendrá como principales vías la Av. Esperanza, Av. 68, Calle 63, Carrera 60, Calle 44 y la Carrera 50.

Cada dos kilómetros la Energizer Night Race 10k dispondrá de los Puntos de Energia Energizer, los cuales serán asistidos por personal de la organización y tendrán agua, bebida isotónica, servicio de baños, punto de primeros auxilios y servicio de ambulancias.

El Obelisco Virgilio Barco de la Avenida Esperanza será la zona de concentración, sitio de calentamiento y vuelta la calma de la Carrera Energizer Night Race. Esta plazoleta está ubicada entre la Av. Esperanza y la calle 24, en el Barrio Salitre, se sitúa entre el Centro Comercial Gran Estación Esfera y los Tribunales de Cundinamarca.

Earthquakes Take on Toluca FC Wednesday in Second Leg of CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfina

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA. -- The San Jose Earthquakes wrap up their CONCACAF Champions League series against Deportivo Toluca FC on Wednesday, March 19 at Nemesio Diez Stadium. Kickoff is 5 p.m. PT on FOX Sports 2 and Univision Deportes Network.
 
The Earthquakes enter the second leg needing a win, a draw with at least two goals or a 1-1 draw followed by an advantage in a penalty-kick shootout to advance. The two squads tied 1-1 at Buck Shaw Stadium in the first leg on March 11, giving the Mexican powerhouse an advantage on away goals.
 
Nemesio Diez Stadium has hosted World Cup matches in 1970 and 1986 and is renowned for its high elevation, sitting at nearly 9,000 feet above sea level. Toluca FC is one of the top clubs in Mexico

 
Toluca are one of the top teams in Mexico with 25 points from their first 11 matches in the Liga MX Clausura. Toluca are one of the most successful clubs in Mexican history with 10 league titles to their name as well as a 2003 CONCACAF Champions League victory. Among the key players is Paraguayan forward Pablo Velazquez, the second-leading scorer during the 2014 Clausura with five goals. Pulling the strings from the midfield is Brazilian playmaker Antonio “Sinha” Naelson, one of the icons of the club having made over 500 appearances since debuting in 1999.
 
If the
Earthquakes advance, they would face the winner of LD Alajuelense (Costa Rica) and Arabe Unido (Panama) in the semifinals. The first leg of that series would be on the road between April 1-3 with the second leg to follow at Buck Shaw Stadium between April 8-10.

Looks Forward To Puerto Rico vs. Mexico Showdown Faces Alberto "Kichis" Garza For IBO For IBA 130lbs Title

PUERTO RICO - Undefeated super featherweight contender, Jose "Sniper" Pedraza (15-0, 10 KOs), is ready to battle Mexico's, Alberto "Kichis" Garza (26-6-1, 21 KOs), for the vacant International Boxing Organization super featherweight title this Saturday March 22nd.  The 12-round main event bout promoted by Gary Shaw ProductionsUniversal Promotions and DiBella Entertainment will air live only in the U.S. and Puerto Rico on Direct TV at 9:00 P.M. EST.

Ranked WBC #9IBF #8WBA #11, and WBO #15, Pedraza knows he must perform at his highest level against Garza to remain amongst the top fighters seeking a world title shot.  He vows to bring an entertaining fight to his audience, as he looks to bring back the glory of past Puerto Rican fighters.

"I feel honored to be fighting on television once again," said Pedraza. "My promoter's Gary Shaw,Javier Bustillo and Lou DiBella are doing a great job with my career.
