SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH FRANK YALLOP
On tonight’s win:
“It’s good result. These are games you’ve got to win, and I said at the start of the season we’ve got to be good at home. We started slowly at home, but it’s nice to get back-to-back wins and score some goals here at Buck Shaw. I think that the signs that we are getting a lot better come with every game. We looked solid until they scored that goal, but I never really felt threatened before that. We looked more solid and organized.”

On McLoughlin’s goal:
“Ellis is another good young player. I think that he, and our whole team actually, they’re excited to play when they get the chance. He came into the game and made a difference. He and Amp (Anthony Ampaipitakwong), they changed the game for us; Amp with his energy and Ellis with a great finish.”

On Wondolowski’s position:
“We dropped him back a bit because we they had three central midfielders. He made a great movement to help set up the goal before serving in a terrific ball to Ellis (McLoughlin). He is on a great run right now getting goals or assists in almost every game.”
EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER ELLIS McLOUGHLIN,
On his first Major League Soccer goal:
“It was great to finally get on the board and most of all it feels good to get the win. It was a good play by (Jon) Busch, and a great cross by Wondo (Chris Wondolowski). All I could do was put it away. It was good to get my first goal and get my confidence up.”

On getting a second straight victory at home:
“Three good results in a row right now. We’re feeling confident and that shows in our play. The most important thing is that we got a win today. Now we can go into next week’s two games with Chicago with some momentum. We need to keep it going and keep moving up the table.”

JON BUSCH EARTHQUAKES GOALKEEPER
On tonight’s game:
“We had two great goals, one from Bobby (Convey), and Ellis (McLoughlin) getting his first goal in MLS. We needed both of them. It was a very scrappy game. That’s what New England’s all about. They look for free kicks and set plays. They just try to get in the box, and fight and scrap. We knew it was going to be a battle tonight. Our boys dug in and played very well defensively. We got the job done and the three points. That’s the most important thing.”

On the momentum of back-to-back home wins:
“We’ve gone on a little bit of a run here, which is good. We just need to continue it. We talked about it after the two bad performances against New York and Chivas, and we needed to go back to doing what made us so successful last year. Just fighting and scrapping and digging in, finishing our chances on one end and not giving up many chances on the other. The last few games, we’ve done that and we’ve gotten the results we’ve deserved.”
