COOPERSTOWN, NY – Thirty-seven years ago, they faced one another in a battle for the 1973 World Series title. But at Hall of Fame Weekend 2010, Tom Seaver and Dick Williams will team up for a little fun – this time as Hall of Famers – with some lucky fans in Cooperstown.

Seaver and Williams will join current National League umpire Jerry Crawford in the family-fun game Connecting Generations on Saturday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown as part of Induction Weekend at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Former major leaguer and current MLB Network analyst Harold Reynolds will serve as the host for the program, one of many family-friendly activities during a weekend that will feature the induction of Andre Dawson, Doug Harvey and Whitey Herzog as members of the Class of 2010 at

the Hall of Fame.

The game will feature three groups of participants chosen from the audience. In each round, both participants and Hall of Famers field one question. The questions are based off of a survey completed by members of the audience, and the goal for each team is to name as many of the top five answers as possible before getting three strikes (three incorrect answers). Following the game show, a brief discussion of baseball will follow, along with questions from audience members.

Seaver, elected to the Hall of Fame in 1992, pitched the New York Mets into the 1973 World Series – winning his second National League Cy Young Award that year with a league-best 2.08 earned-run average and 19 victories. In the Fall Classic, the Mets were met by the Oakland A’s, managed by Williams – who was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2008. The A’s prevailed in seven games, with all but one of the contests being decided by three runs or fewer.

Crawford, a 33-year big league veteran who has umpired five World Series, considers Harvey one of his mentors and is the son of former umpire Shag Crawford, Harvey’s second crew chief in the major leagues.

Tickets for Connecting Generations are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Members may reserve tickets immediately, and any remaining tickets will be available to non-members on Monday, July 19, by calling the Membership department at 607-547-0397.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open throughout Hall of Fame Weekend. The Museum maintains the following Hall of Fame Weekend hours: Friday, July 23: 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Saturday, July 24: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sunday, July 25: 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Monday, July 26: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Advance tickets are not necessary but are available by contacting the Hall of Fame at 888-425-5633. For Hall of Fame Members, doors open at 7 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As always, Hall of Fame Members receive free admission. A special Members’ only entrance eliminates the need to wait in line. Interested parties may enroll in the membership program in advance or at the Museum.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The Museum observes off-season hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from the day after Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend.
