CALENDARIO NBA GLOBAL DE JUEGOS 2014

LOS NBA GLOBAL GAMES DE LA PRETEMPORADA 2014-15 INICIARÁN CON JUEGOS EN TRES CONTINENTES

-- Cavaliers, Heat, Kings, Nets y Spurs jugarán un total de cinco juegos en Brasil, China, Alemania y Turquía --

La Asociación Nacional de Basquetbol (NBA), anunció hoy que como parte de su esfuerzo por conectar con sus fans en todo el mundo, algunos equipos de la liga jugarán cinco juegos de pretemporada en cuatro países este octubre, como parte del programa NBA Global Games 2014.

Cinco franqucias –Nets de Brooklyn, Cavaliers de Cleveland, Miami Heat, Kings de Sacramento y los Spurs de San Antonio– jugarán cinco partidos en Brasil, China, Alemania y Turquía. Los NBA Global Games, también incluirán juegos de temporada regular, mismos que serán anunciados próximamente.

Junto con la acción dentro la duela, los NBA Global Games 2014 también tendrán una variedad de actividades fuera de la duela, incluyendo programas comunitarios de NBA Cares. Los juegos también serán apoyados por diversos socios comerciales y estarán disponibles a los aficionados globalmente en televisión, en línea y en redes sociales.

Los NBA Global Games 2014 arrancarán cuando los Spurs de San Antonio viajen a Europa para jugar dos partidos contra equipos de la liga Euroleague Basketball. Los Spurs abrirán el calendario internacional en Berlín, Alemania el 8 de octubre, en un juego contra los ocho veces campeones alemanes Alba Berlin, en laO²  World. Posteriormente, San Antonio viajará a Estambul, Turquía, para enfrentarse a los cinco veces campeones turcos Fenerbahçe Ülker Istanbul, en la Ülker Sports Arena.

Los Cavaliers de Cleveland y el Miami Heat jugarán el segundo juego de NBA realizado en América del Sur, cuando estos equipos se encuentren el 11 de octubre en la HSBC Arena de Río de Janeiro, Brasil. En este partido, el poste de los Cavaliers, Anderson Varejão, participará por primera vez frente a sus compatriotas jugando para un equipo de la NBA.

El calendario de pre-temporada de los NBA Global Games incluirá dos juegos en China, entre los Nets de Brooklyn y los Kings de Sacramento. Ambos equipos jugarán el 12 de octubre en la Mercedes-Benz Arena de Shanghai y después, viajarán a Beijing para enfrentarse el 15 de octubre en el MasterCard Center.

Photo Credit Team Escalante  After seeing a specialist, x-rays showed that Bruno "The Aloha Kid" Escalante (13-1-1, 6 KOs) was fighting with two broken bones in his left hand during this IBA Super-Flyweight title defense against Victor Ruiz (12-3, 9 KOs).  Escalante showed tremendous grit as he continued fighting when the injury occurred in the 2nd round.  The injury will likely keep Escalante out of the ring for 3 months. "The doctor said Bruno can make a quick recovery if he lets his hand heal properly," said Manager Herb Stone. "He could return after a few months of rehab.  Bruno proved to me he has tremendous heart carrying on with a broken hand.   I'm hoping he can fight by the end of the summer. I have big plans for Bruno when he returns to the ring." "This is just a minor setback," said Bruno Escalante. "I'm going to do everything the doctor says to make the healing process faster.  I'll continue working out, mostly on my jab since that is the only arm I can use at the moment."

"BREATHE FOR CALEY" FUNDRAISER HOSTED BY THE GHOST RAISES OVER $15,000

GILROY, CA (April 7, 2014) - This past Sunday Robert Guerrero's "Breath for Caley" fundraising event successfully raised over $15,000 for Caley Camarillo a 12-year old girl who is suffering from a rare and terminal lung disease called cystic fibrosis (commonly referred to as CF). The money raised will help out with medical expenses. "I'm very happy with the turnout yesterday as our local community and neighboring communities came out to support this event and help Caley and her family," said Robert Guerrero. "Our goal was to hit $10K and we surpassed that, raising over $15K. I want to thank all the people who donated items, bought tickets and made bids on our silent auction items. Kenenisa Bekele, logró superar la mejor marca del maratón de París con 2 horas 5 minutos y 4 segundo

El plusmarquista mundial de los 5.000 y de los 10.000 metros, el etíope Kenenisa Bekele, logró superar la mejor marca del maratón de París con 2 horas 5 minutos y 4 segundos (seis segundos menos que la del keniano Stanley Biwott en 2012), en su debut en la distancia.

Bekele, que dominó claramente la prueba e hizo los últimos kilómetros en solitario, no pudo alcanzar el reto que él mismo se había marcado de batir el récord mundial de 2 horas 3 minutos y 23 segundos, conseguido por Wilson Kipsang el pasado mes de septiembre en Berlín.

"No tenía experiencias anteriores. Ha sido muy duro para mí", señaló el etíope de 31 años a preguntas del canal "Eurosport" minutos después de cruzar la línea de meta.

También explicó que "después del kilómetro 30, todo ha sido muy complicado". De hecho, a ocho kilómetros del final hizo signos de que tenía dolor en una pierna.

Bekele había anticipado que piensa continuar "un poco" en el maratón, pero que su idea es volver al 10.000 para intentar batir su propio récord de la prueba más larga en pista.

En segunda posición quedó el también etíope Limenih Getachew, con 2 horas, 6 minutos y 49 segundos, y el tercero fue el keniano Luka Landa con 2 horas, 8 minutos y 2 segundos.

La mujer que ganó la prueba fue la keniana Flamene Cheyech, con 2 horas, 22 minutos y 42 segundos. La etíope Yebrgual Melese terminó segunda, lejos detrás con 2 horas, 26 minutos y 19 segundos.

El primer atleta de nacionalidad europea fue el francés Ahmed Ezzobayry, en décima posición, con 2 horas, 15 minutos y 34 segundos.

Un total de 50.000 personas se inscribieron para correr en la trigésimo octava edición del maratón de París, un tercio extranjeros participaron en este evento pedestre.

Los más numerosos entre estos últimos fueron los británicos (4.644), los estadounidenses (1.393) y los belgas (1.007).

IBA SUPER FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION BRUNO ESCALANTE MARCHES ON WITH UNANIMOUS DECISION VICTORY Photo Credit Mario Serrano  At the Cache Creek Casino, Bruno "The Aloha Kid" Escalante (13-1-1, 6 KOs) successfully defended his IBA Super-Flyweight title with a unanimous decision victory against a game Victor Ruiz (12-3, 9 KOs). Escalante vs Ruiz was presented byDon Chargin Productions, Paco Presents Boxing and Cache Creek Casino Resort. In the early rounds, Ruiz pressed the action and won a few rounds before Escalante got into his grove.  Escalante made the proper adjustments in the middle rounds and used superior boxing skills and defense to confuse Ruiz as he took the lead going into the final two rounds.  Ruiz tried to make a final push but Escalante dug deep and finished strong.  Escalante hurt his hand in round 2 and fought with his right hand for most of the fight.  Scorecards read 98-92, 97-93, and 96-94 all in favor for Escalante. "This was a tough fight but I made the proper adjustments to come out on top," said Escalante. "Ruiz is a warrior but he never hurt me except when I busted my left hand in the second round, but that came from me hitting him.  My cornermen Brian Schwartz and Mike Bazzel gave me great advice.  They told me to use my jab and stay relaxed.  My defense was on point tonight and I was in great shape.  I will go to the hospital tonight to get an x-ray of my hand. I'm hoping to return to the ring as soon as I get cleared from the doctor.  I want to thank my team for this victory."   "Bruno did what he had to do to get the victory," said Manager Herb Stone. "I'm very satisfied that Bruno was able to make the adjustment needed to win this fight.  The prognosis of his hand injury will give me an idea of when he'll be able to return. If it's not too bad I will get him back in the ring in the summer."
