Middleweight Tureano Johnson is 14-0 as a professional, but has not fought since February 2013. This weekend, he steps up to a nationally televised (NBC Sports Network) middleweight showdown aganst Curtis Stevens, who is 26-4 but has been more active than Johnson. Here is what Johnson had to say to Boxingtalk:

Benny Henderson Jr.: Tureano, you have a big fight coming up against Curtis Stevens [this Friday night on NBC Sports Network]. Can you talk about this matchup?

Tureano Johnson: Curtis Stevens is an explosive puncher but he's not on my level. I have the better skills and everyone will see what I'm all about when we step in the ring on April 4th. I believe this is going to be a very entertaining fight while it lasts. We are both going to be gunning for the knockout.

BH: The fight will be televised on NBC Sports. How do you feel about fighting on national television?

TJ: This is a great opportunity for me and my team. Fighting on NBC will give me a change to showcase my talent to the world. I like to mix it up and take chances and that's what the fans want to see. I have to thank my promoter Gary Shaw for giving me this opportunity. I know together we can go far.

BH: For those who don't know much about you, can you tell us about your fighting style?

TJ: Like I said I like to mix it up and be aggressive at times. I like to throw a lot of power punches and I'm always looking for the knockout. If I have to go the distance then so be it, but I would rather have the knockout.  Read More...

Gary Shaw Productions has just signed undefeated Super Middleweight contender Brandon "Flawless" Gonzales(18-0-1, 10 KOs) to a promotional agreement.  In his last fight, Gonzales, who hails from Sacramento, Ca, defeated previously unbeaten contenderJonathan Nelson (18-1, 8 KOs) back on November 11, 2103.

Gonzales, who is the IBF #3 ranked contender, had a successful 2013, going 3-0, winning two by unanimous decision, and one by split decision.  He feels Shaw can get him the big fights he's been seeking.

"I know Gary can deliver the big fight," said Brandon Gonzales. "All I want is an opportunity to accomplish my goal of becoming a word champion.  I've worked my way up the rankings by winning tough fights and now I'm ranked #3 by the IBF.  I feel the urgency to take my career to the next level and that's why I signed with Gary Shaw.  Together I know we can do big things."

With Brandon being highly ranked, Gary Shaw feels he has the ability to get him in a meaningful fight in the immediate future.

"Brandon Gonzales is a fighter with a lot of heart and talent and I'm happy he's part of the GSP family now," said Gary Shaw. "He's highly ranked and a nice win will get him in position to fight for a world title.  I look forward to Gonzales being in some big fights.  He's a tremendous individual who I have a lot of respect for because he's come up the hard way, winning fights without the support that most contenders have on the way up.  We will be making an announcement shortly on what's next for Gonzales"

CAMPEONES DE LA mmB, NUEVOS MONARCAS MUNDIALES
