The San Jose Earthquakes and Devcon Construction announced today that steel erection for the club’s new stadium at 1135 Coleman Ave. is one day ahead of schedule, moving the Topping Out Ceremony to the morning of Thursday, March 27.
Fans will still have an opportunity to sign the final beam between 3:30-5 p.m. from Monday-Wednesday next week at the new stadium site.
The club will also still host a free, public barbeque with Earthquakes players, technical staff and front office members on Friday, March 28 from 12-1:30 p.m. Club partner Cosmopolitan Catering will cater the event. Fans can RSVP to the event by visiting www.sjearthquakes.com.
The Earthquakes have included community stakeholders at each juncture of the stadium construction process, upholding the club’s three chief pillars: Unity, Devotion, Heritage. The club and fans set a Guinness World Record in 2012 with 6,256 people shoveling for two minutes for the stadium groundbreaking to kick of the community-focused construction process. More recently, fans have had the opportunity to visit Schuff Steel’s factory and to help pour the foundation for the stadium. Earthquakes President Dave Kaval also hosts stadium tours once a month at the stadium site.

Sesionó la XLII Asamblea General Ordinaria de ACORD Colombia
Nuevos proyectos y objetivos se trazaron los
entrantes directivos
BOGOTA, COLOMBIA -- Con la asistencia de la mayoría de las regionales que hacen parte de la entidad, sesionó durante el martes 18 y el miércoles 19 de marzo en Bogotá, la Cuadragésima Segunda Asamblea General Ordinaria de la Asociación Colombiana de Periodistas Deportivos ACORD COLOMBIA, que aglutina más de mil doscientos profesionales del periodismo deportivo en el país.
El periodista santandereano Carlos Julio Castellanos Rincón fue reelegido para un nuevo periodo de cuatro años por la asamblea, que estimó que su trabajo al frente de la entidad fue valioso y productivo en el crecimiento y posicionamiento de la entidad. Igualmente, fueron ratificados en sus cargos por aclamación el vicepresidente Estewil Quesada Fernández de Atlántico, el tesorero Wilman Fernando Mejía Londoño de Cundinamarca y el secretario general Ricardo Ruiz Espinel de Bogotá.
En este proceso fueron elegidos en las vocalías Marino Sánchez Martínez
de Risaralda, Alvaro Ariza Cortázar de Tolima y Giovanni Arnulfo Ramírez de
Meta, así como los fiscales Faiver Hoyos Hernández de Huila y Modesto Piñeres
Hernández de Arauca.
La asamblea que estaba prevista inicialmente en Riohacha, Guajira, contó
con la presencia de los presidentes y delegados de Antioquia, Arauca,
Atlántico, Bogotá, Bolívar, Boyacá, Caldas, Casanare, Cauca, Chocó, Córdoba,
Cundinamarca, Huila, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Quindío,
Risaralda, San Andrés, Santander, Sucre y Tolima.
Este encuentro de regionales del gremio periodístico más importante del país sesionó en el Centro de Alto Rendimiento de COLDEPORTES y durante los dos días de trabajo los asistentes deliberaron en los temas previstos en el orden del día y presentaron los informes regionales sobre el trabajo adelantado en cada seccional durante el año 2013.

fortalecer el proceso de capacitación para sus asociados, las actividades de

Energizer Night Race 'Elite en la Energizer Night Race 10k en Bogotá, Colombia
Gerard Giraldo, de Porvenir, actual campeón Latinoamericano de Circuito Energizer 10k, medallista bolivariano y sudamericano lidera el listado elite de la Energizer Night Race 10k, competencia pactada para este domingo 23 de marzo, la cual da apertura al calendario nacional de ruta de la federación y es la primera prueba preparatoria de la media maratón de Bogotá 2014.
El reciente palmarés del nuevo integrante de la escuadra Porvenir que buscará revalidar el título conseguido el año pasado en la Energizer 10k de Medellín, empieza con las medallas de plata en los 3 mil metros con obstáculos de los Bolivarianos de Perú y los Suramericanos de Chile, además recordista nacional de esta especialidad en las categorías sub – 23 y mayores, quien viene de ser segundo en los 10k de Cipolletti – Argentina.
El quíntuple campeón y recordista de la Carrera Ascenso Torre Colpatria, Juan Pablo Rangel, de Icec volverá a la competencia luego de un importante cierre de año 2013 con seis triunfos en línea, para lo cual escogió la prueba nocturna de este domingo 23 de marzo a las 7 p.m.
Oscar Moreno, de Bogotá, tres veces campeón de la Torre Colpatria en la categoría abierta y campeón de varias paradas del circuito de montaña 2013 también estará en la línea de partida junto al experimentado Edgar Sanchez, de Torres de Apicalá, que venció en Tocancipa, Chía y Valledupar, en su categoría.
Este es el primer listado de corredores elite que han confirmado su presencia en la Energizer Night Race 10k, en busca de un tiquete a la final latinoamericana que se realizará en Lima – Perú, de la cual Giraldo, de Porvenir es el vigente titular.
La Energizer Night Race 10k, primera carrera preparatoria de la media maratón de Bogotá 2014 tendrá como principales vías la Av. Esperanza, Av. 68, Calle 63, Carrera 60, Calle 44 y la Carrera 50.
Cada dos kilómetros la Energizer Night Race 10k dispondrá de los Puntos de Energia Energizer, los cuales serán asistidos por personal de la organización y tendrán agua, bebida isotónica, servicio de baños, punto de primeros auxilios y servicio de ambulancias.
El Obelisco Virgilio Barco de la Avenida Esperanza será la zona de concentración, sitio de calentamiento y vuelta la calma de la Carrera Energizer Night Race. Esta plazoleta está ubicada entre la Av. Esperanza y la calle 24, en el Barrio Salitre, se sitúa entre el Centro Comercial Gran Estación Esfera y los Tribunales de Cundinamarca.
